Atheists: If there is no higher being, then how did the big bang happen?

The idea that the 'uncaused cause', as it were, has to be a sentient, omnipotent being more complex and powerful than the universe itself is patently ridiculous. Whether a god exists or not, that argument will always be ludicrous.
