I dont know if i like this boy?

Ok so I've been mates with this boy for quite a while, and he said he liked me at one point and was asking me to be with him all the time, we're kinda close as well, but I never liked him in that way then, and then a while after he stopped talking to me a bit, and can sort of tell he doesn't like me like that anymore but I'm not sure, and now suddenly I get this weird feeling I like him!? Which is annoying because he used to like me and probably doesn't now:/ because when I'm with him, I get the urge to want to kiss him, and there's something about him that I really like, like more than a mate, but then the next second I look at him and think 'er noo he's more of a mate than anything else' but he would treat me right, because he's lovely and we have so many laughs together but then I just get the feeling we should just stay mates cuz we have for a while, but arghhh I don't know! And don't be a **** and put some pathetic pointless answer just to get points or whatever, just need some good advice from someone nice:) thanks!x
